Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ cup canned pumpkin puree
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk (or almond milk)
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the maple glaze:
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 2 teaspoons milk (or more to desired consistency)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray a nonstick donut pan with cooking spray or grease with butter.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together pumpkin puree, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, milk, oil or melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gradually add wet mixture to dry ingredients, folding gently until just combined without overmixing.
  5. Spoon or pipe batter into prepared donut pan, filling about ¾ full. Tap pan lightly to remove air bubbles.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes until a toothpick inserted in donuts comes out clean. Cool in pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk until smooth. Adjust with more milk if needed. Dip cooled donuts into glaze, allowing excess to drip off.
  8. Place glazed donuts on a wire rack and let set for about 10 minutes. Serve fresh or store for later enjoyment.

Notes

  • Ensure to not overmix the batter for tender donuts.
  • Use a quality nonstick donut pan for best results.
  • Adjust glaze consistency with more milk if necessary.
  • For extra flavor, sprinkle with crushed pecans or additional cinnamon.
