Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon ground ginger
- ½ cup canned pumpkin puree
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup milk (or almond milk)
- ¼ cup vegetable oil or melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- For the maple glaze:
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 2 teaspoons milk (or more to desired consistency)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray a nonstick donut pan with cooking spray or grease with butter.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together pumpkin puree, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, milk, oil or melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually add wet mixture to dry ingredients, folding gently until just combined without overmixing.
- Spoon or pipe batter into prepared donut pan, filling about ¾ full. Tap pan lightly to remove air bubbles.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes until a toothpick inserted in donuts comes out clean. Cool in pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk until smooth. Adjust with more milk if needed. Dip cooled donuts into glaze, allowing excess to drip off.
- Place glazed donuts on a wire rack and let set for about 10 minutes. Serve fresh or store for later enjoyment.
Notes
- Ensure to not overmix the batter for tender donuts.
- Use a quality nonstick donut pan for best results.
- Adjust glaze consistency with more milk if necessary.
- For extra flavor, sprinkle with crushed pecans or additional cinnamon.
