Perfect for game day, parties, or a quick snack, these golden and cheesy sticks are sure to impress your guests and satisfy your craving for flavorful Mexican food with a quick twist.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (or choose ground beef for a different flavor)
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 8 oz shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 package of crescent roll dough or puff pastry
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Begin by heating a skillet over medium heat and adding a splash of oil. Sauté diced onions and minced garlic until fragrant. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary. Stir in taco seasoning, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for 5 minutes for the flavors to meld. Once cooked, set aside and let it cool slightly.
  2. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the crescent roll dough or puff pastry on a floured surface. Cut into strips approximately 1 inch wide. Place a spoonful of the seasoned ground beef in the center of each strip. Sprinkle generously with shredded cheddar cheese. Fold the dough over or crimp edges to seal and form a stick or roll shape.
  3. Arrange the assembled taco sticks on a greased baking sheet. Brush the tops with a beaten egg for a golden finish if desired. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the edges are crispy and golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the dough is sealed properly to prevent the filling from spilling out during baking.
  • Using high-quality shredded cheese will enhance flavor.
  • You can add diced tomatoes or jalapeños to customize the filling.
