Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade spice mix)
- 8–10 corn or flour taco shells
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican cheese blend
- 1/2 cup chopped onions
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro (optional)
- Sour cream and salsa for serving
- Olive oil spray or cooking spray
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and no longer pink. Drain excess fat. Add diced onions and cook until translucent. Stir in taco seasoning and a splash of water. Simmer for 5 minutes until flavors meld.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray each taco shell with olive oil or cooking spray. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 8-10 minutes until shells are golden and crispy.
- Fill each baked shell with the seasoned ground beef. Top with shredded cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and cilantro. Add a dollop of sour cream or salsa if desired.
- Serve immediately for the best crunch. Optional: serve with lime wedges or hot sauce for added flavor.
Notes
- Use corn taco shells for more authentic flavor and crunch.
- Spray shells lightly with oil before baking for crispiness.
- Pre-baking shells helps them keep shape after filling.
- Adjust spice levels with hot sauce or cayenne pepper for a spicy twist.
- Prepare toppings in advance for quick assembly.
