Discover the quick and flavorful Easy Chinese Pepper Steak Recipe that combines tender beef and vibrant bell peppers for a delightful meal in no time. Perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 bell pepper (red or green), sliced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 green onions, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the sliced beef with soy sauce, black pepper, and cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef strips and cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil and toss in the sliced bell peppers and onions. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until they start to soften, then add the minced garlic and ginger. Stir continuously for another minute.
  4. Return the cooked beef to the skillet along with the beef broth and sugar. Stir everything together and let it simmer for another 2-3 minutes to thicken the sauce. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving. Serve hot over steamed rice!

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • This dish is not recommended for freezing as the texture of the vegetables may change.
  • For extra flavor, serve alongside steamed jasmine rice or fried rice.
  • Add sliced jalapeños or red pepper flakes for a spicier kick!
