Homemade Cheesy Breadsticks are a cheesy, gooey delight perfect for gatherings or as a comforting snack. Easy to make with a crispy exterior and a gooey cheese center, they are best served warm with marinara sauce.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- ¾ cup warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Marinara sauce (for dipping)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour, olive oil, and salt to the mixture and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Let rise in a greased bowl for approximately 1 hour.
- Punch down the risen dough, roll it out into a rectangle, and sprinkle with mozzarella, Parmesan, garlic powder, and oregano.
- Roll dough tightly and cut into equal-sized sticks.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Place breadsticks on a baking sheet and sprinkle with extra cheese if desired. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 1-2 days, or refrigerate for up to a week, and freeze for up to 3 months.
- Experiment with different cheeses for unique flavors.
- Make the dough in advance and refrigerate overnight.
