Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 large potatoes, sliced thin
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and thinly slice the potatoes. Finely chop the onion and mince the garlic cloves. Set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, cook until translucent.
  3. Add the ground beef, season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Cook until browned, then remove excess fat if needed.
  4. Spread the sliced potatoes evenly over the cooked beef in the skillet. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Cover and cook on low-medium heat for about 15 minutes until potatoes are tender.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheese generously over the top. Cover again and cook for another 5 minutes until cheese melts and bubbles.
  6. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve hot with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Use thinly sliced potatoes for quicker cooking and better layering.
  • Ensure not to overcrowd the skillet to allow even browning.
  • For a crispy cheese top, remove the lid in the last few minutes.
  • Try different cheeses like Monterey Jack or mozzarella for variation.
