Description

Quick and Spicy Shrimp Soup is a flavorful dish that combines succulent shrimp with vibrant vegetables in a zesty broth. Perfect for chilly evenings, this soup is both nutritious and satisfying, delivering a delightful kick to awaken your taste buds.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 cups seafood or chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 12 teaspoons chili flakes (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and chopped onion, and sauté until fragrant and translucent.
  2. Once the onion is tender, add diced bell pepper and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Next, toss in the fresh shrimp and stir well until they begin to change color.
  3. Pour in the seafood or chicken broth, along with diced tomatoes, chili flakes, cumin, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Check for seasoning and adjust as needed. Squeeze in the lime juice for an extra zing, and then remove from heat. Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro.
