Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef (preferably 80/20 for juiciness)
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp soy sauce (optional for added depth)
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Combine ground beef, bread crumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix thoroughly and form into 4-6 oval-shaped patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, add oil, and cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Remove patties and set aside.
- In the same skillet, pour in beef broth and bring to a simmer. Whisk in flour until smooth, add soy sauce (if using), and cook for 3-5 minutes until gravy thickens.
- Return patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over, and simmer for an additional 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
Notes
- Use ground beef with a higher fat content (80/20) for juicier patties.
- Be careful not to overmix the meat to keep the patties tender.
- Brown the patties well for more flavor before simmering in gravy.
- You can prepare the patties and gravy ahead of time and reheat gently.
