Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) flank or sirloin beef, thinly sliced
  • 8 oz (225g) rice noodles or egg noodles
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoi sin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Optional: sliced green onions, sesame seeds, chopped chili for garnish

Instructions

  1. Slicing and Marinating the Beef: Thinly slice the beef against the grain. Mix 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 teaspoon cornstarch, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl. Marinate the beef slices for about 10 minutes.
  2. Searing the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook beef until browned and cooked through (about 3-4 minutes), then remove and set aside.
  3. Making the Sticky Sauce: Sauté minced garlic and grated ginger in the same pan until fragrant. Add remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoi sin sauce, and hoisin sauce. Simmer for 2 minutes. Mix 1 teaspoon cornstarch with water and add to thicken the sauce.
  4. Cooking the Noodles: Follow package instructions to cook noodles until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  5. Final Assembly: Return cooked beef to the pan with sauce. Add noodles and toss to coat evenly. Garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, and chili if desired.

Notes

  • Use thinly sliced beef for quick cooking and tender bites.
  • Prepare the sauce ingredients ahead for a faster meal assembly.
  • Adjust hoisin and oyster sauce quantities for sweeter or more savory flavor profiles.
  • Add a splash of rice vinegar or sesame oil for extra flavor before serving.
