Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) shell pasta or your favorite pasta shape
  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef or turkey
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (14 oz)
  • 1 cup beef or chicken broth
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, sliced jalapeños, chopped cilantro
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients and prepare by dicing the onion, mincing garlic, and measuring seasonings and broth.
  2. In a large skillet or pot, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add diced onion and garlic to the meat, cook until fragrant and translucent.
  4. Stir in taco seasoning, diced tomatoes, and broth. Bring to a boil.
  5. Add pasta to the boiling mixture, reduce heat to simmer, cover, and cook until pasta is tender, about 10 minutes.
  6. Once cooked, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top and cover until melted.
  7. Serve hot with optional toppings like sour cream, jalapeños, or cilantro for added flavor.

Notes

  • Use a sufficiently large pot to prevent overflows while cooking pasta.
  • Stir frequently to ensure even cooking and prevent sticking.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste; add more taco seasoning for spicier flavor.
  • For creamier texture, stir in a splash of cream or milk before serving.
